More Proof The Metro DFL Doesn't Get It

Conceal carry has finally passed. This time without too much fanfare. I think the DFL knew it was inevitable. Outstate DFL'ers had no choice but to pass it, lest they find themselves out of a job next year.

After all of the hoohah over the last year, the bill passed with no changes except for the one minor technical correction that was originally sought when the bill was passed and sent to the Revisor's office. 'And' was changed to 'or'. You can see the bill here.

But the Metro DFL'ers still provide wonderful blogger fodder.

“Are we so scared of our neighbors that we have to pack everywhere we go,” said Rep. Keith Ellison, DFL-Minneapolis.

No, rep. Ellison. But people are scared of the thugs that roam the neighborhoods. Maybe the Phillips neighborhood would be a nicer place if conceal carry were in place 20 years ago.

Rep. Connie Bernardy, DFL-Fridley, said the gun permit needed more
work.

“This bill can definitely be improved so our churches, our synagogues
and our mosaics don’t have to post signs,” she said.

“I know at my church, they don’t want to post signs,” she said.

“But people on the other side wouldn’t let the common sense things for our communities get by,” said Bernardy.

"People on the other side of the aisle"? What happened to teh spirit of bipartisanship, Rep. Bernardy? And if you would actually, you know, read the bill, you'd see that posting signs is an option now. But don't let facts get in the way of a good argument.
